Vanilla Cupcakes | Sweet Saturday

For my next post in the Teen Blogs Unite series, I am going to share with you a recipe for the simple but tasty vanilla cupcakes! unfortunately I couldn't bake them myself but, I wanted to show you this recipe. (I don't own this image - doesn't belong to me)

Ingredients

For the buttercream icing
  • 140g/5oz butter, softened

  • 280g/10oz icing sugar

  • 1-2 tbsp milk

  • a few drops food colouring

    Preparation method

    1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and line a 12-hole muffin tin with paper cases.

    2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl until pale. Beat in the eggs a little at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.

    3. Fold in the flour using a large metal spoon, adding a little milk until the mixture is of a dropping consistency. Spoon the mixture into the paper cases until they are half full.

  • Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until golden-brown on top and a skewer inserted into one of the cakes comes out clean. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the tin and cool on a wire rack.

  • For the buttercream icing, beat the butter in a large bowl until soft. Add half the icing sugar and beat until smooth.

  • Then add the remaining icing sugar with one tablespoon of the milk, adding more milk if necessary, until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  • Add the food colouring and mix until well combined.

  • Spoon the icing into a piping bag with a star nozzle and pipe the icing using a spiralling motion onto the cup cakes in a large swirl.

The buttercream icing is obviously optional and so is adding food colouring. This is a sweet luxury on those days when you want something that isn't full of vitamins or nutrients! When you want something to taste and feel happiness when eating! Enjoy!x

Autumn is my favourite season...

Cosy nights watchng tv. Cold mornings warmed up by a delicious mug of hot chocolate. Crunchy, marmalade coloured leaves by your feet. The sound of pouring rain. The long desired lush bath. Closer and closer to Christmas.

Autumn. How I do love you. Although you are my busiest month, I love everything you have to offer. Especially the fashion. Parka coats, fluffy jumpers, leggings, all things comfy, tartan prints, scarfs, hats everything! The beauty at this time of year is my favourite. At last I can whip out the dark berry colours and go out in them without looking like a goth of some sort. Heavier eye makeup (all time personal fave). Also not to mention all my candles! The heavenly Yankee candle smells loaming through the air...ahhhhhhh. Can't do this blogpost without mentioning Halloween and all the Halloweentown films! Who can relate?!

What's your favourite thing about Autumn?

Brand Focus: Rimmel London | #TeenBlogsUnite

I'm quite liking Rimmel at the moment. Most of their products have been perfect, in the brand focus I'm going to show you all my products I own and do a little mini review!

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation
Ok so I love the texture and smell of this foundation. Usually I'm looking for a bit more coverage than this but this is fine for spring/summer time. Unfortunately I really don't like the fact it has sparkles in. Loads of people comment on how my face is 'sparkly' and it makes me really self-conscious. So overall, I don't think I'll be repurchasing this foundation.
Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Ah, the hyped up product of 2014/2013. I however, am not a big fan of this. It claims to be long lasting but my makeup seems to slide right off my face after 2 or 3 hours which isn't good at all. I also think that this product made me breakout. I have sort of a love hate relationship with this but it is mostly hate.
Rimmel London Clear Complexion Pressed Powder
On the other hand, this powder is amazing! It doesn't claim to be long lasting but it really is! It is also full of minerals which helps you skin. The title 'clear complexion' draws me in straightaway with this product! Love it!
Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer
This is my holy grail lip product! It acts like a lip stain and stays on all day long! I picked up a dark berry shade because I felt daring and totally fell in love with this product! Loveeeee it.
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Liquid Liner
This is my first liquid eyeliner and it is lasting quite well. It claims it is waterproof and it definitely is! I'm obsessed with this eyeliner and plus it is quick and easy (ish) to use!
Rimmel I ❤️ Lasting Finish Nail Varnish
I've had these a while and I do very much love the shades, although they aren't very long lasting. I honestly prefer Barry m but, I could live with these! :)

Hope you enjoyed my 3rd post to the #Teenblogsunite series. Please remember it isn't too late to get involved and the girls running it are lovely and give you all the information you need!

September Favourites

September has flown by so fast. I can't describe how fast it has gone because of how quick it went by. September has been full of birthdays. Seems like everyone was born in Spetember, am I right?! Anyway, I've loved a lot of things this month so let's get started!
Let's start beauty. Back to school makeup has been my priory lately and I don't like caking my face in makeup for school so I generally go for a subtle look. I have been enjoying wearing eyeliner though. In particular, my Rimmel London Scandal Eyes liquid liner. I love this because it is so easy to apply and I didn't even know that I picked up a waterproof one! Bonus! It lasts all day long and I love it to bits. My other favourite is an oldie for me. My first beauty product. Obviously this is the repurchased version. The Collection Longer Lash waterproof mascara is my saviour! Although the brush is simple, it adds so much volume to my lashes whereas my Maybelline one is practically dried out so I stick a bit of this on instead! I'm so glad I found this again.
Next is skincare. My ears have been pretty dry lately so moisturising is key. The Body Shops aloe soothing day and night creams are fabulous! My ears are getting so much better and so is my complexion. I've got into a routine so now I'm treating my skin properly and my skin is practically clear now.
Our school has introduced a new programme for year 9's called '10 before year 10'. This means we have to read ten books by year 10. My first book I chose is 'The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud'. I'm so in love with this. If you love TFIOS or Wonder, you'll love this! Brought a couple of tears to my eyes already!
Music is my life. Can go a day without listening to it. Ariana Grande's new album has been on repeat since it came out. Nothing much to say other than how FREAKING amazing it is! I'm obsessed and you should be too.
Onto food...I love food. A lot. Recently my mum bought these toffee penguin biscuits and oh my god. These are heaven and I can't get enough of them! They taste a dream and make me feel like a young kid again!

Thankyou for reading this post hope you enjoyed! Bye x
